Training IKEA’s diverse workforce to ‘Shop online’
27th January 2008
IKEA wanted their staff to understand the sales process behind their new online shopping website and handle customer questions about online shopping. They intended to produce and distribute hundreds of DVDs to reach thousands of staff at locations all over the UK. We recommended they use an on-demand webcast streamed from their central server via their intranet. This method proved more profitable than creating and distributing hundreds of DVDs. They loved the fact we could combine a 'real person' with screen shots of the new website along with a synchronised script and supporting graphics. This meant they met DDA (the Disability Discrimination Act) requirements. Our implementation helped IKEA save time and money. It also meant they reached more staff quicker than using traditional DVD, illustrating how the right approach and creative use of technology delivered efficiencies and savings that saved our client money – and made a real impact.
